Hasyimi Bahrudin

Champion of the Month
Meet Hasyimi Bahrudin, Staff Engineer at MoneyLion (part of Gen Digital). Recently, Hasyimi added support to RisingWave that enables the webhook table to send multiple rows in a single batched request.
Introduce yourself to the RisingWave Community
I've been working as a software engineer for over 13 years. In 2022, my career started to revolve more around data platform engineering because I believe having the right data in the right place at the right time is crucial to unlock the potential of any business. One of the tools I've used a lot is Kafka Connect, which is crucial for pushing data into Kafka (sources) and pulling data out of Kafka (sinks). However, Kafka Connect has a lot of limitations, so I've been eyeing a platform that could potentially replace it as Kafka sources and sinks. That's when I stumbled upon RisingWave, which I believe has huge potential in this space.
Why contribute to RisingWave?
Combined with my interest in learning Rust (my contribution was my first Rust PR ever!), I decided to add a small feature to RisingWave to allow the webhook source to receive batches of events at once. I think this is important to reduce network round trips when you want to build a pipeline that collects a large volume of events from a lot of clients. I'm excited to share this contribution with the community, and I hope it proves useful for others!
