Jianmin Tang

Champion of the Month
Meet Tang Jianmin (Github username: Standing-Man) . Over the past year, he has significantly improved RisingWave by adding new SQL capabilities, boosting PostgreSQL compatibility, enhancing catalog/streaming-job observability, polishing developer docs and tooling, and continuing to drive quality fixes and test improvements.
Introduce yourself to the RisingWave Community
I'm Tang Jianmin, a newly appointed full-time instructor at a vocational college with a strong passion for open-source culture. By participating in open-source communities and resolving issues, I enjoy learning how large-scale systems work in practice. I'm particularly interested in understanding system design and real-world engineering trade-offs. I look forward to learning from others in the community and contributing back whenever possible.
Why contribute to RisingWave?
After completing a CMU course on Database Systems, I developed a strong interest in understanding how production-grade database systems are designed and built in the real world, as well as the engineering challenges and trade-offs involved in large-scale systems. At the same time, I am eager to deepen my understanding of Rust as a systems programming language. Contributing to RisingWave gives me an ideal opportunity to learn Rust in a practical context while working on a modern, distributed database system.
